  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Device for a Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack
Thanks for the information Tricia. I have a solution for you but the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers item # GY88XR is not going to be the best option with the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack item # HLY94FR. There's a bit of gap that's going to keep the Gen-Y item # GY88XR from mounting correctly. The best option is going to be the Malone Anti-Rattle HitchLock System item # MPG908. This one has a wider piece of steel that will grab the lip of your hitch's receiver to...

  • How to Prevent Hitch Pin Hole Deformity
It is not extremely uncommon for the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver to become oblong after frequent usage. This is usually attributed to frequent back and forth movement of the shank inside the receiver tube opening that in time will deform the hitch pin hole. A good way to prevent or reduce this would be to use an anti-rattle device like part # GY88XR. Since the hitch pin hole on your existing trailer hitch has become deformed then I do recommend replacement as the problem...

For your 2 inch receiver on your Toyota Highlander, the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - 2-5/8" Span # 63232 is a favorite for ball mounts and accessories. The SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Lock - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SHP2082 is another great option for ball mount, cargo carrier and other accessories. Bike racks normally have their unique brand anti-rattle adapter.

  • Availability of 2" to 1-1/4" Reducer With Built-In Rise for Bike Rack
Hi LDJ; we have reducers like the # e63YR but none with a built in rise. What you can do is pair it with Gen-Y stacked receivers like the # 325-GH-303 with a 5" rise/drop or # 325-GH-304 with a 7-1/2" rise/drop. The design prevents any reduction in hitch capacity like other adapters and will get you the extra clearance. The Gen-Y is pretty solid but I recommend using an anti-rattle like # GY88XR to help reduce unwanted movement as you add more parts to your bike rack setup.

  • Does Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp Work With 2 Inch Trailer Hitch on Ford F-150
The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR is actually designed to fit over the shank of a ball mount or accessory that fits into a 2-inch trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch # C86HR that fits certain model year Ford F-150's and F-150 Raptors. So, the short answer is yes, the clamp will absolutely work with the hitch, but it does not go around the lip, it will actually go into the receiver and then you'll tighten it. If you take a look at the linked video review...

  • Will Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp Help Keep Curt Cargo Carrier Level
Hey Brennen! Yes, the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR will keep the cargo carrier from angling down and also reduce unwanted movement. When you tighten the bolts it will push up from the bottom to hold the cargo carrier in place. What do you use your cargo carrier for?

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" and 2 1/2" Hitches
Hey Dan, congrats on the new Tacoma! When you say different, what do you mean exactly? The Gen-Y # GY28XR you're referring to is for 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" hitches so the new Tacoma could have a 2" x 2" hitch, which is why it doesn't work. If that's the case, then you'd just need the Gen-Y # GY88XR, which is the same thing as the one you tried already - but is just for 2" hitches. If you have anything else you need help with, feel free to leave a comment down below and we'll take care of you!

  • Will Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier Fit 2024 Ford Bronco With Spare
Hi David; this may actually be possible but it will definitely be a close call. The closest part of the rack from the center of the hitch pin hole on the EXO is 4-1/4". However, that is not where the box actually sits. If you take a look at the installation video below the back edge of the box is 12-1/2" out from the bumper of that RAV4. Really what it will come down to is the size of the spare and how much clearance there is between the bottom of the tire and the hitch. If it sits low...

Hey Brian, thanks for the pictures. The etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar item # e38FV is not going to fit your Ascent's factory hitch. It's going to be a tight fit if you can even mount it with the chain hangers so close but the main issue is the side mounting pieces will block your hitch pin holes. Hey John! The Weigh Safe 180 Hitch 2-Ball Mount # WS45VR and Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-503 can be used together. The nice thing about the Gen-Y stacked receivers is they are so well built it doesn't reduce your tongue weight capacity like a traditional adapter would. Since this does add extra parts to your setup it would be a good idea to use an anti-rattle like the # GY88XR to reduce unwanted movement. If you need anything else don't hesitate to reach...

  • Sleeve Style Anti Rattle Device for 2 Inch Hitch Extender
We have just what you're looking for with the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR. The sleeve acts as a wedge to take out play between your hitch receiver and extender. Although it does not not require a wrench and a significant amount of force to install, like an anti-rattle bolt would, it will require you to use the included Allen tool to tighten down the two set screws on the corners. I've attached a video that explains how it works in more detail.

I do have a solution for you, however the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers # 63080 is specifically designed to work with Draw-Tite 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers. Because the collars on the hitch receivers can vary in thickness from manufacturer to manufacturer, chances are the 63080 will not work with your Haul Master adapter. If you're looking to reduce the rattling between the 2" receiver portion of your adapter and an accessory, I recommend the...

  • How to Reduce Wobble when Using Curt Cargo Carrier C18145 in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Hitch accessories tend to wobble, especially those that use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter. The threaded hitch pin can only do so much to combat the movement. The issue is that the shank of the accessory has to be slightly smaller than the opening otherwise it would be difficult to insert and remove the accessory. That combined with the single attachment point and width of a cargo carrier means that even the smallest gap between shank and receiver seems huge at either end of the carrier. What...

I do have an option for you but the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer III part # BX88312 is the only device we have that will stabilize the reducer sleeve. If this will not work for you due to the position of the safety chain loops then the only other option, I would have is a wedge for the 2" shank, the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # GY88XR. I do have an option for you but I cannot confirm the SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Accessories Lock part # SHP2082 will work with the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack like part # Y02443. That said, even if it were to fit it would likely not reduce wobble any more than the threaded hitch pin included with the bike rack. Instead, I recommend the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # GY88XR for 2" as this will reduce wobble (inside the shank) and they also make it much easier to line up the hitch...

If you have the hitch pin for the Reese Eclipse 4 Bike Rack part # 63124 engaged enough so that the cotter pin can be inserted into the other side, then this will be sufficient in order to hold the shank inside of the receiver tube. That said, the bike rack may not be as stable as it would be with full thread engagement so that is something to keep in mind. I cannot really recommend that you drill and tap the weld nut inside the shank, but you could just drill this out with a 5/8" drill...

The MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp has not been tested or rated for use when towing a trailer. Because of that it should only be used for hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks or cargo carriers. So basically, since they have not tested it for towing, they can't rate it for towing and that is where that note on the product page came from. For an anti-rattle device that you can tow with and costs about the same as the MaxxTow I recommend # 63232. This will work with a ball mount that has...

  • Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use.
